Budget Canopy Bedding: Style at Low Cost
When I was young my parents went through a period of having very little money. Interestingly we were still a pretty trendy family, though I say so myself, all ways well dressed and with a stylish home. There was only one reason for this and that was my mother, who had great taste and more importantly understood the importance of accessorizing. She was able to make homemade accessories cheaply that made everything look five times classier than it really was.
Many people underestimate the importance of accessories especially when it comes to interior designs. It’s all too easy to get distracted by the big expensive pieces of furniture that one imagines will be the focal point of the room. A four poster canopy bed is a great example of this. Yes it is a big piece of furniture and it will draw the eye, but for the effect to look right the focus needs, actually, to be on the canopy bedding. It is the choice of lines, pillows and covers etc that will make or break the complete look. If you just focus on the bed itself and then stick it in the middle of your bedroom with out choosing decent bedding the result will be less than pleasing.
Quite a few of the modern canopy beds for sale in the shops are quite minimalist in their design which is perfect as it then allows you to add the finishing touches which will make your bedroom unique. Just as my mother did don’t be afraid to get hold of a sewing machine and make your own canopy bed curtains. There are some really pretty fabrics out there that you can find either online or at your local haberdashers so check them out before buying something ready made. The arts and crafts movement is really coming to the fore again so keep your cheque book in your pocket and go for originality.
