Flannel Sheets: Some Common Misconceptions
When you are living in a location whereby it is often hit with cold weather, getting a set of flannel bedding becomes a necessity. It could keep you warm and cozy from the harsh weather and this is why flannel sheets have become well-liked by a huge group of people. However, there are several misconceptions that people have regarding these cozy sheets and it will be clarified within this article.
Misconception 1: They don’t retain warmth
This is not true because there are different levels of quality and thickness on the market. The lower quality ones are those that are lighter and it often doesn’t provide you with much warmth. In fact, if you purchase any low quality bedding, you will be getting the same result. Therefore, the fault doesn’t lie in the sheets but in the quality that you choose to buy. Try getting a thicker and heavier flannel sheet if you are someone who is overly sensitive to cold.
Misconception 2: They pilling easily
Pilling occurs when the sheets are washed frequently which result in small flurry ball appearing on the surface of the sheets. In the past, I would have agreed with this statement but now the problem has been rectified. Manufacturers have factored in this issue and now most sets are pill resistant.
Misconception 3: It is difficult to judge the quality
Once again, this is not true. While you may be used to one method of judging the quality of sheets flannel simply needs to be judged differently. But it is not at all difficult. Typical bedding uses thread count as an evaluation for the quality but flannel bedding uses weight as the factor to differentiate its quality. A normal flannel fitted sheet should be around 4 ounces per yard while a quality one should be at least 6 ounces. Therefore, you need to be careful if the sheets are below 4 ounces because the quality is much lower.
Now that you have a better understanding of this cozy bedding option, start preparing a few flannel sheet sets for your family. Remember to check for the quality of it before purchasing to enjoy a good night sleep during winter. They are available in every size you could imagine, from California King to a tiny flannel crib sheet for your baby. This winter, the whole family can be warm!
