You can put anything in a safe. They are most commonly used to protect important documents, guns and valuables. It is hard to break into a safe and it is important that you are aware of what type of safe you need to protect your assets. If you have a gun you need a gun safe. Don’t think just having your gun laying around is o.k. because it is not. Protect your assets and family get a safe. There are a few different types of safes that a Phoenix security professional would recommend:

First there are Diversion Safes: These “camouflaged” safes blend right into their environments. They are disguised as everyday items that no one would pay much attention to. Often, they are of a smaller size so they make great places to hide cash and small valuables. These are not high security safes, so security officials do not suggest hiding your most precious valuables or extremely large amounts of money in these types of safes. The example to the right shows a wall outlet safe which requires a key to open.

Secondly there are Laptop Safes: Today, laptops have become hot items for burglars to steal. Professionals in the industry state that this is because of their relatively small size and high value. Some people use security straps, but laptop safes are much more effective. You often see them in hotel rooms, but they are also becoming much more frequently used bycollege students who live in dorms and by homeowners.

Finally there are Media Safes: Again, even if you have the best home alarm system, it is highly suggest using a number of security techniques. Some of the most popular safes today are media safes. They are designed to hide and protect various types of digital equipment. They are also typically fire proof, but they keep the temperature lower than traditional fire safes which is preferable for media equipment.

Now there are other types of safes out there but the three above have been recommended by Phoenix home security professionals. It is a good idea to invest time into what you want to invest your hard earned money in. Call and ask around. See what other people are purchasing that has the same needs as you.

Wall safes are one of the most practical safes for the normal homeowner to get when looking to protect their valuables. It is actually built into the wall, but it is easy to install even after the house is completed as they put it between two studs. The wall safe is narrow due to this, but plenty big enough for the important papers and small items most of us would put in it.

To guard against fire and theft, you need to look at the UL Class for fire and the burglar resistant rating for theft. Fire class A states the safe can withstand a 4000 degree fire for 4 hours; class B—an 1850 degree fire for 2 hours and class C—a 1700 degree fire for 1 hour. The burglar resistant testing is done on how long the safe can withstand picking tools, tampering tools, and tools that apply constant pressure. The most popular are TL-15, TL-30, and TL-40, which are 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 40 minutes respectfully. The wall safe is hard to remove, so even though you have a hidden wall safe, you should still get one that is burglar resistant.

The best thing about having an in wall safe is that you can have it in your living room or den and hide it behind a picture or panel so that not even your closest friend knows it is there. After all, the best deterrent from having criminals target your home is to make them think there is nothing worth steeling. Even if they do break in, they would have to hunt for it before they even begin to try to open it and how long would that take. To protect your valuable papers, such as titles, insurance policies, and stocks from both fire and theft, the wall safes for home can do the job best.

If you are ever in the awkward situation of taking an old Victorian brass rim lock, or a lock from any other period for that matter, off your door and then not being able to properly piece it back together again, rest assured that you are not the only one that has happened to. It can be very frustrating to finally manage to get a rim lock off only to find when it is time to put it back together again that you cannot remember how to do so.

To begin with, it is often a feat in itself to get to a rim lock that has been painted over for centuries. The screws are usually totally covered with paint, paint remover seldom helps if there are multiple layers of paint and then once you finally have scraped the paint of you may well find that the screws are smaller and you do not have a screwdriver that fits. If you manage to make it through all of these obstacles without damaging either the door or the lock, you are doing well!

But what to do if you simply cannot remember how to put the lock back together again? Well, unless you are able to find detailed how-to instructions online, complete with illustrations, that you can follow you may need to revert to some other solution. If you have similar locks on other doors you could always very carefully take the other rim lock off as well, only this time making careful notes as to how the rim lock is put together. Follow the same pattern, and you should have your rim lock back together again in no time. If you do not have any other similar locks, or if you are apprehensive about taking out yet another rim lock, the simplest solution is probably to take the lock to your local locksmith. They should be able to have it back together again in no time, and it is unlikely that they would charge you very much for it.

If all else fails, you could also look for a replacement rim lock, either an original or a replica model, and purchase that instead. It would probably be cheaper to have the lock put back together by a locksmith, of course, but if you feel it is time for a new lock then that is also a viable option.

Reading home security system reviews will help you find the alarm system that will work best for your home and the protection needs of your family. Next to the purchase of your custom home, the purchase of the alarm system to protect can be just as big. Taking time and completing the proper research will ensure that the right decision is made and you mind will be put at ease knowing your family and home are safe and secure. Some alarm systems are more advanced than others; this means they can also be much more expensive than others as well.

A home security system review is the best place to begin your search. You will also want to talk to coworkers, families, and friends about the type of alarms they have had installed in their homes and what they like or dislike about them. Remember that each alarm system offers their own benefits in security of the home. Simple alarm systems may include window stickers, yard signs, and detectors on doors and windows that beep every time they are opened or closed. These systems are quite often installed by the do it yourself home repair type of homeowner.

The more complex alarm systems will consist of motion detectors, security lights and cameras, fire and smoke alarms, medical assistance and constant monitoring. Beware of the monitored systems. These systems most often need to be professionally installed which raises the expense of the system. Cost of monthly monitoring can be expensive and if the alarm goes off and they respond by having the proper authorities check it out, you can be find for a false alarm.

As you can see there are many alarm systems to choose from and other things to consider before making such a major purchase for the home. You can not put a price on the safety of your home and family.

A cost-effective way of safeguarding your home from theft is through a wireless motion sensor alarm. This simple surveillance equipment can detect movement around a designated radius, and set off signals to alert the homeowner. It is a good way of monitoring the safety of your house during the evenings. The sound each unit emits can rouse you from your sleep and give you enough time to take action when a burglar is afoot. You can use this in conjunction with an affordable in-house camera monitor so you get to have a look at the perpetrator before he or she enters your room.

The basic model comes with motion detecting sensors that can sense movement in a set area, and alarm settings with volume controls that can go up to 120 decibels. Other units have infrared features that allow you to indicate the sensor’s scope or coverage. For single, working people without pets who live alone (and are often out of the house), there are models with telephony features that automatically dial a pre-inputted number once it detects unauthorized activity within the area. It alerts the homeowner of the presence of intruders, even when they are out of the city. All they have to do is enter their mobile number. Some units allow up to 3 numbers to be entered. It could be your mobile number, your neighbor’s land line and the local police’s direct line. Once the auto-dialler contacts a designated number, it plays a pre-recorded message of your choosing (e.g., “This is Jane Smith, an intruder has entered my home at 123 ABC Street, DEF Village, GHI City.”).

Depending on the brand, make, and features, prices may vary from fourteen dollars to under four hundred dollars. For instance, a wireless motion sensor alarm with an automatic dialer can cost about thirty dollars.

Black mold is a dangerous substance that can grow in your home and not only cause damages to your walls, but also put you and your family at risk for some serious health problems, up to and including death. While most cases, if caught early are able to be taken care of by the home owner and don’t pose much of a risk, if taken care of improperly or not at all, then it can grow into a large, deadly problem. I am going to give you the do’s and don’ts of black mold removal so that you can hopefully take care of it yourself.

The first thing you’ll want to do is to look into the scope of the problem. If the mold has been undetected for a while, it will have grown into a larger, more expansive area. If it is a smaller area, then you should be able to do it yourself, but if you are concerned that the area may be too big, then you should call a professional and have it inspected.

Once you have determined that you will be able to do the removal yourself, then you’ll want to get a specialized black mold removal and cleaning product. Do not use bleach, because while it may seem like it will be able to remove the mold, it actually makes the problem worse. Bleach does not kill the mold at the roots, instead it will only whiten the black mold making it seem like you removed it, but it will continue to grow putting you at further risk. You’ll be able to find the mold or mildew cleaning products at your local grocery store or hardware store.

You’ll want to first seal off the area from possibly exposing other rooms of the house. You can open a window to ventilate the room better. Then, you’ll want to use a wet cloth to pat the area of of mold. If the mold is dry when you are scrubbing, then it can be released into the air and if you breath it in it could cause respiratory problems. Then, once it is wet, just use the cleaning spray that you purchased by following the directions on there, and you’ll have the mold cleaned up in no time.

Having the protection and reassurance of a monitored alarm system cannot be quantified in dollar amounts. The protection of your family and valuable belongings is something many homeowners take for granted until something terrible happens. If you currently do not own a security system, there are many affordable security products available which can help deter crime. The least you can do is display of security warning signs which are effective against a majority of potential intruders such as burglars and trespassers. There are many types of home security signs to consider but you should definitely choose good quality and highly visible products for better results.

When most people leave home they do not want to worry about the prospect of being burglarized or vandalized in their absence. A burglary is more than just a crime it is actually a violation of a person’s private property or business. If you have worked hard for your possessions, it is time for you to protect them without cutting on costs.

To adequately protect your hard earned investments, a method of security is necessary, especially in vulnerable locations such as urban areas where there is a concentration of people and activity. There are many options to protect the home or business. Most of the well known security companies offer basic systems to at least provide a little piece of mind even if your budget is limited. A basic alarm system will include a keypad or control panel, motion detectors, window and door sensors, and a monthly monitoring fee.

In addition to the basics, a home security sign and stickers are usually included in a basic or skeletal security package. Cameras, fingerprint or iris identification, infrared detectors and other more sophisticated equipment will take the system to another level. Such systems are used in banks and other businesses with sensitive or confidential contents.

Photo by Mr. T in DCSecurity services are available in any state and online. Most people are familiar with ADT, Broadview which was formally known as Brinks, Alert, Dell and others. Most companies offer online quotes nowadays so you can compare prices and services easily. Home security system signs and stickers are usually complimentary with a monitored system but you should make sure before you pay for a system. Once your alarm system is installed, make sure business or home security signs are placed somewhere near all of the entry points, in the front and rear of your home or business.

There are thousands of households all across the country that invest thousands of dollars in their personal possessions and while they think their houses are secure; no one can truly be 100 percent sure. Home safety tools such as personal safes are popping up more and more in homes in America but even those aren’t nearly as air tight as one might think. A safe with a key or a safe with a combination can both be cracked. The newest innovation in home security is a biometric safe.

A home biometric safe uses specific human identification markers such as a fingerprint as a way to identify that the person trying to access what is inside the safe is actually the owner of the contents. This way there is no ability to simply crack the safe by stealing the combination or using specific tools to crack the combination without stealing it from the owner.

These newer biometric safes allow the people who own them to know that it is incredibly hard to open up the safe and are therefore able to sleep a little sounder knowing that whatever they put into that safe is going to be almost impossible to retrieve by anyone but themselves. Still there are things to worry about when dealing with such exacting technology. There is always the chance that the software may glitch. While for the most part this software is tested and re-tested in an attempt to make sure that something like this won’t happen there are simply times when the software does not do what it is supposed to do and that becomes a problem when the security is heightened. Still there is usually a way to reset even these higher level security measures and the safety they provide outweighs the small chance of something going wrong with the software. As a fall back some models offer a backup traditional key to gain access. For more information on all types of home security safes check out http://keepsafeathome.com/

An obvious benefit to owning a pistol safe is so that children can’t find your pistol and harm themselves or others. Another benefit is that in case an intruder or burglar gets into your house he may stumble across your gun if it’s not stored properly and use it against you.

If you own a pistol, you are obligated to store it in a safe place. It’s the right thing to do because you want everyone in your household to be safe. There are also pistol safe’s that have room to store your jewels, money and important papers.

You can bolt pistol safes to the floor or to a wall. This is nice to do because it won’t be easy for someone to just grab it and leave your house with it. You can even get a smaller sized one that can be secured by a cable. These are nice to use in small spaces such as the glove compartment of your car or in a desk drawer. And even smaller ones can be kept in your briefcase or suitcase.

You may also want to have a safe if you are a gun collector. The obvious reason of theft protection is the first reason, but the safe can also keep moisture away from the gun, preserving its value. You don’t want to lose value on an expensive gun because you did not properly store it. Even if you are not a collector, pistols aren’t cheap. So you want to protect it and keep it in good working order.

You owe it to yourself and your community to keep your pistol locked up so only you can get to it. Keeping it away from others may prevent crimes. If you didn’t have it locked away and someone stole it and used it in a crime, it would be traced back to you.

And think of the benefits of a fireproof safe if your house burns down. Everything you had stored in there would be safe and undamaged. A safe for your pistol meets all of your security and protection needs.<!--

You’ve decided that a home alarm system is right for you and your family. Now the question is how do you pick from the alarm monitoring companies to find the one that is right for you? A good first step is to visit the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) website and see what companies service your area. It is worth noting that the NBFAA membership is a sign of quality, but not a full endorsement of an alarm company. Also ask neighbors and your homeowner’s insurance agent who they recommend.

You can narrow down your list by visiting company websites and calling companies for references. Ideally you will end up with 3-4 alarm monitoring services to solicit bids from. Once you have your choices, make appointments for one of their representatives to come to your home and do an evaluation and recommendation of the type of alarm system they feel you need. It is worth noting that you should do some reading either online about the types of systems available and their pros and cons. Remember, the salesperson wants your business and may gloss over details that are important to you. Be sure to get details such insuring that the company has 24 hr 7 day a week security alarm monitoring and customer service staff. This is also the time to discuss if you want to add features like fire, carbon monoxide or water leak monitoring to be included.

After the home inspection and discussion with the representative from each alarm monitoring company, ask for a written bid that includes the costs of the equipment, installation, and at least a year’s monitoring fees. Based on the written bids, references and your gut feelings you should be able to pick between the alarm monitoring companies to find the one that is right for you. Visit alarm monitoring companies and best home alarm systems for more information.<!--
