A Cordless Knife For Turkey Carving

A cordless knife is something I should have bought in the first place. Now, where do I start? Have you ever had the experience of throwing a party, hosting a big family reunion, or just a small get together where everything was going fine and smoothly then suddenly you had a big bad feeling that something was going to go terribly wrong and ruin the whole thing? I have.

Right after I married my wife, which was last year, we went out to buy appliances for our kitchen. My wife wanted a set of knives which came with a wooden block, but then I spotted an electric knife. Remembering my mom having one and knowing how helpful it was, I wanted that one for myself. I also saw a beautiful cordless carving knife, but it was not within my budget so I settled for the standard one, the one with the cord.

The price of the set of knives with the wooden block made my wife agree with my proposal to settle on the cordless knife along with the promise that we would be returning it if in a week she ended up hating it. But she loved it. We used it for a year, it was suited for our needs, as our kitchen was small and rarely did we have guests. We did all our preparing and cooking in our small kitchen.

All was well until one time we decided to have a small get together, inviting my wife’s siblings and parents over. We prepared ham and turkey. We were happy to see everybody’s delight over the served appetizers and soup. Then when it was time for the main course, I proudly brought my electric knife over; ready to carve the big ham and turkey. Suddenly, I realized that there was no outlet in the dinning room. To make matters worse, we did not have any regular knives also but table knives which were blunt.

We were so embarrassed; my wife had to explain that we did not have regular knives. In short, I felt that it would mean that I was too cheap to buy any. I took the ham and the turkey back to the kitchen to cut it all up. Upon returning, the mood had already changed. The embarrassing incident ruined the party. This taught me that the cordless knife would have been the wisest thing to buy, if I had one it would have saved me from all the shame.
