When you want to keep track of your keys and reduce the risk of losing them one of the things you can use is a lanyard. A lanyard allows you to hook the keys onto a ring and then actually wear the keys around your neck or, sometimes, attach it to your belt. This keeps your keys in a safe place and if you drop the key, at the very least, the key falls against your body instead of onto the ground.

Key lanyards can be personalized. Your name can be added or the name of your company. Some companies give out lanyards for promotional purposes. That way the company name can be seen every day by the potential customer who will use the lanyard on a daily basis, this is a great marketing technique.
Most companies prefer that key cards and other things of that nature be stored on company lanyards. However, many employees use those lanyards for their own personal keys and thus they turn a company issued one into a personal key car lanyard.
